11 Nov 2009: McCubbin: Last Impressions 1907-17Art Gallery of Western Australia Director Stefano Carboni is delighted to announce that the Gallery is presenting the McCubbin: Last Impressions 1907-17 exhibition - a fresh look at McCubbin's late work. It concentrates on the last 11 years of his life when he produced his most vibrant works, one which express his sense of delight in, and comfort within, the Australian landscape. The exhibition is sure to be one of the highlights of Perth's cultural calendar this summer. |

5 Nov 2009: 2009 Western Australian Indigenous Art Awards - People's Choice Award winner announcedThe People's Choice Award of $5,000 from Australia's richest Indigenous contemporary art award was announced today - the winner is Share Pickett from Quairading [Balladong Country], WA. For the second year in a row, members of the public have recognised the talent of Shane Pickett in his group fo artworks displayed in the awards exhibition. The Gallery is pleased to launch the nomination process for the Western Australian Indigenous Art Awards 2010. These national awards are open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists residing in Australia. |

19 Oct 2009: BODY: an exhibition from the State Art Collection |

BODY is an exhibition drawn from the State Art Collection, it will displays works that take the human body as its starting point. BODY will focus on corporeality in many quises, from the seemingly simple representation of the human form to artworks by Indigenous Australian artists that are drawn from ceremonial markings on the human body, to works by contemporary artists that are determined by the physical body of the artist or seek to include the body of the viewer within their realm. BODY opens 21 November 2009. |

Built is an exhibition drawn from the State Art Collection, which is concerned with built forms, both sculptural and pictorial, as well as concepts of order and disorder, containment and collapse. It features a recent major acquistion by Callum Morton, a sculptural installation entitled Monument #23 Slump 2009, and Narelle Jubelin's elegant installation, Soft Shoulder 1994. Built opens 7 November 2009. |
