Introducing Hannah Gadsby's very personal guide to portraits

Following her popular ARTBAR gig at AGWA, comedian, TV presenter, and art historian Hannah Gadsby has lent her wit and expert art knowledge to the Gallery for a special series of AGWA TV.

View the first of three videos on portraiture works in the State Art Collection. We start the series with a humorous look at Jeffrey Smart’s Portrait of David Malouf. To follow are insights into Hilda Rix Nicholas’ La Robe Chinoise (The Chinese Dress) and E Phillips Fox’s Loves me, Loves me not.

All three videos offer irreverent looks at popular works with a dash of self-deprecating humour and art historical insight thrown in for good measure.

The series was developed as part of the Portrait Project which continues online.
