Great Collections of the World - Peggy Guggenheim: A Collection in Venice

9 October 2010 - 31 January 2011

As the first exhibition in a new series titled Great Collections of the World, the Art Gallery of Western Australia brings a world-class exhibition from the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice exclusively to Perth. The works in the exhibition display Peggy Guggenheim’s strong affinity for two key movements of 20th Century modern art: Surrealism and Abstraction.

Western Australian Indigenous Art Awards 2010

A national art award founded in 2008 to celebrate the diversity and richness of Indigenous art from across the country. Indigenous artists were nominated by their peers for the prestigious award and finalists chosen by a selection panel. The awards acknowledge the significant contribution Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists make to Australian art and culture.

Art in Bloom 2010

17 - 19 September 2010

Art in Bloom, organised by the Friends of the Art Gallery of Western Australia. Thousands of flowers and plants filled the Gallery as artists, designers, media personalities, students and others created floral responses to over 120 exhibited works of art, this year reflecting the works from the State Art Collection displays.

McCubbin: Last Impressions 1907-17 exhibition is a fresh look at Frederick McCubbin's late work. It concentrates on the last 11 years of his life when he produced his most vibrant works, ones which express his sense of delight in, and comfort within, the Australian landscape.
