Kiara Rechichi-Baker Chiaroscuro I 2014. Monoprint on paper, 205 cm x 125 cm. Courtesy of the artist.
Discover experimental printmaking with artist Kiara Rechichi-Baker.
Join us in the studio for some artist-led drawing, scoring, wiping, storming, scratching, spraying, splashing and printing of your emotional weather onto a page.
You will get to explore emotional weather documenting the expression of daily sensations through gestural drawing and unique printmaking techniques. Through investigating a range of mediums and materials, you will be guided through techniques that capture the essence of chiaroscuro, the play of light and shadow; to help convey the nature of changing weather as it reflects the ebbs and flows of human emotion and daily life.
The explorations and outcomes of this workshop will contribute to the creative development of AGWA’s 2024 Gallery 09 participatory exhibition.
I explored this experimental printing process as part of a daily practice where I documented emotion by painting an expressive face onto lino every day for the months preceding completion of a large body of work. I used this daily ritual as a method for practicing mindfulness and visually documenting and reflecting on my art practice over time.
