Including significant modern and contemporary pieces, it looks at the ways items made to either support the body or its domestic living and activities, express various philosophies of being and making whilst also existing as artistic statements in their own right.

The selection of objects includes prototypes of the Oh La La chair by Australia designer and maker Jon Goulder, a geometric chair by Gerrit Rietveld, chairs by Adelaide-based designers Daniel.Emma whose designs offer a more relaxed version of Reitveld’s austere modernism, the over-the-top foyer luxury of Christopher Robertson’s Sofa Australia alongside an early piece by the late Australian designer Robert Foster.
 
Above these, are the Particulars series by the South African photographer David Goldblatt and Australian artist Jan Nelson’s performative works.
