Tomorrowfund

Related Information

The TomorrowFund is a visionary, $25 million fund for the acquisition of contemporary Western Australian, Australian and international art. It has been established to transform the State Art Collection with the addition of ambitious and captivating works that inspire and strengthen Western Australia’s culture of creativity and innovation. So far, it has been a resounding success; income generated by the TomorrowFund has added over 200 contemporary works across all media.

The TomorrowFund began with a $10 million commitment from the Government of Western Australia to establish an endowment fund for the purchase of contemporary works of art. The Government’s challenge to the corporate and private sector was to match their $10 million pledge dollar-for-dollar, at which point they would provide an additional $5 million. Through the exceptionally generous supporters of the Gallery this goal was reached in 2011, and the $25 million TomorrowFund was established.

The Art Gallery of Western Australia warmly thanks our four lead corporate supporters – BHP Billiton, National Australia Bank, Wesfarmers and Woodside – who spearheaded the successful campaign by each pledging $1 million, all of our individual and corporate supporters, and Andrew and Nicola Forrest who helped the Gallery reach its campaign target with an extremely generous personal gift.
