Michael Cook from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland has won the People’s Choice Award of $5,000 in the Western Australian Indigenous Art Awards 2011. Michael Cook’s manipulated digital photographs explore the impact of European settlement on Indigenous Australians historically and through to the present moment. His works also examine the power structures introduced with colonisation.
