Dr Clarissa Ball

Appointed in 2019 under Section 6(1)(a) of the Art Gallery of the Art Gallery Act 1959 – Term Ends 2027

Dr Clarissa Ball is an art historian with particular interests in late nineteenth and twentieth century art and photography. Until recently, Clarissa was the Head of the History of Art at the University of Western Australia where she was also the Director of the Institute of Advanced Studies (2010-2023). In 2018 she was appointed as Deputy Director of the International Consortium, University Based Institutes of Advanced Studies, a position she held until 2023. She previously held the positions of Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Fine Arts at UWA (2009-2005) and Chief Examiner for TEE Art (2005-1999) and was a member of the then Department of Corrective Services Youth Justice Board (2017-2014).
