NAIDOC Week Family Tours
Bring the family along to The Art Gallery of Western Australia’s NAIDOC Week family guided tours. Specially designed for children and their families to enjoy, you can join one of our friendly Voluntary Gallery Guides in celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art.

Boorongur Reading Nook
Curl up in the Boorongur Reading Nook with a picture book by First Nations authors/illustrators and share stories, conversations, feelings and ideas. Storytelling in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture takes place across multiple mediums and is way of passing on generational traditional knowledges, connecting with community, healing and expressing grief and sorrow, as well as sharing humour and resilience.

Hands-on workshops with Sharyn Egan
Join us in Boorongur for an all-ages drop-in workshop led by artist Sharyn Egan. Join Sharyn Egan in her participatory exhibition, Boorongur (Totem), and learn to sculpt small creatures from raffia and coloured wool. Sharyn invites children and families to consider a plant or animal that is meaningful for them and create small tactile sculptures that can represent totems. Boorongur is an all-ages accessible space for families to rest, yarn and create together.

Doll Making with Geri Hayden
Join us for an all-ages hands on calico doll making workshop with Nyoongar maker Geri Hayden. Explore ideas and design curious playable objects made from a combination of natural and art materials.
