AGWA celebrates the arrival of Yoshitomo Nara with a launch party for the Nara After Dark event series.

Be one of the first in Perth to view the premiere of Nara's solo Australian exhibition Yoshitomo Nara: Reach Out to The Moon, Even If We Can't in a night of live music, DJs and bar with a curated drinks list of Japanese gin, whisky and cocktails available for purchase.

Headlining the entertainment, Pond will bring their electrifying brand of pure psych-pop joy with Grievous Bodily Calm kicking of the event.

Yoshitomo Nara: Reach Out to The Moon, Even If We Can't
Celebrated Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara's first Australian solo exhibition brings together major sculptural works alongside paintings, drawings, ceramics, and photography. Spanning 2011-2022, the exhibition focuses on key works from Nara's recent output. Dramatically presented in AGWA's largest gallery space, the sculptural works form a series of interrelated islands that span a range of feeling states. Individually and collectively, they demonstrate Nara's unsurpassed ability to convey emotional nuance with clarity and moving intensity. The feeling of these works is echoed by surrounding drawings, paintings and ceramics in Nara's distinctive style.
