About the artist

Rory Charles is a young Indigenous artist who grew up in the Kimberley region. He is a Wunambal Gaambera, Nyikina, Balanggarra man. The Wunambal Gaambera people are one of the three tribes responsible for care-taking the ancient Wandjina rock art in the Kimberley.

Rory has exhibited in multiple shows and received several awards, with his most recent being the Aboriginal Artist, Emerging Artist Award, City of South Perth 2019, and has shown work at Revealed 2020 and 2021. He was the recipient of NAIDOC Empowerment Award 2020 for his extensive community work.
