Freighting Ideas: There Were Moments of Transformation

Conversations with Rain

Accompanying There Were Moments of Transformation is the dynamic engagement activity Conversations with Rain, developed in partnership between the Gallery and ECU School of Education and supported by Healthway, Act-Belong-Commit.

This ongoing multi-platform project explores children’s creative relations with weather as a way of potentially transforming our climate futures. Echoing the collaborative touring model championed by Freighting Ideas, Conversations with Rain harnesses learning methodologies that prioritise creativity, participation and engagement. Visitors of all ages can pick up a Conversations with Rain response journal and take it with them into the exhibition as a way of encouraging deeper and more reflective responses through creative activities. The dance film Kep Waangkiny (Water Talking) plays with audio work Sound of Rain inviting visitors to draw a tiny storm while listening to child-made rain. Pick up your Conversations with Rain journal at one of the touring venues to collect your thoughts, ideas and feelings.
