This large-scale artwork will be instantly recognisable and will become closely associated with The Art Gallery of Western Australia.
The artwork should give prominence to AGWA and the main gallery building within its layered position on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar and at the heart of the Perth Cultural Centre.
The artwork should be durable for a minimum of ten years and capture the attitude of this moment in contemporary art practice.
The artwork commission fee is AUS$1.6M, with AUS$12,500 offered to shortlisted artists for the preparation of an Artwork Concept Proposal (ACP).
This EOI is open to International Artists.
Due to the nature of the global Coronavirus pandemic and the project, it is a requirement that any interstate or international team includes a local representative able to undertake any site works or attend any other local, in-person meetings.
Commissioned by AGWA, and funded by the State Government of Western Australia, this work will be a significant legacy work enjoyed by generations of Western Australians and will become part of the State Art Collection held and managed by AGWA.
The new artwork will be viewed by over 4.5m visitors to the cultural centre and is expected to inspire and attract even more visitors from interstate and around the world.
More information is provided in the EOI package available to download.
