Star Machine Opening Night Party

Star Machine Opening Night Party

Join us 6-8pm, on Friday 3 February for the opening of Farah Al Qasimi: Star Machine, the artist's first solo exhibition in Australia.

In celebration of the opening of Star Machine, the AGWA Design Store will feature a limited-edition collaboration with several local artists including Angel City Nails (RRP $200 per set) who has created gorgeous press-on nails inspired by Farah Al Qasimi’s bold, vibrant and detailed photographers. Perth label House of Zaya has produced an exclusive line of caps (RRP $65) and also instore, a new book - Hello Future, a culmination of Al Qasimi’s photographic, performance and film practice, unified within her keen focus on surface and texture, and the revealing visual influences of the splashy and florid. (RRP $135).

Beats provided by Ningaloo Records and Rok Riley. Cash bar.

Based between Abu Dhabi and Brooklyn, Farah Al Qasimi's hyper-colourised photographs frame the mundane with explosive beauty, humorous indifference and transgressive social commentary.

Al Qasimi's images show the ways in which realities are layered and imagined, and how photography is not simply about documenting and critiquing the world but is an increasingly important part of how we shape composite worlds within worlds.
